The Aquae STEM project has started in Zamora. It is an initiative promoted by Aquona and its foundation, the Aquae Foundation, which aims to promote scientific, technical and mathematical vocations among primary school students and is being developed at the San José school in the Zamora capital.

The Councilor for Equality, Women and Development Cooperation of the Zamora City Council, Carmen Álvarez; Aquona's manager in Zamora, Nicolás Esmorís and Aquona's Director of Sustainable Development, Laura de Vega, participated today in one of the STEM workshops held in the center's 2nd classroom.

Projects like Aquae STEM are essential in the educational field to “recognize the role of women in the world of science,” said Carmen Álvarez, although he has also appealed to a responsibility of the whole society as a whole to make the change of “ social attitude ”, creating feminine references and eliminating inherited beliefs such as affirming that“ men are intelligent and women are clever ”. "Girls, like boys, can get where they want," he said.

For his part, the manager of Aquona in Zamora, Nicolás Esmorís has affirmed that the company encourages the presence of women in positions of responsibility and has envisioned “many future scientists and future workers of Aquona” in the class.

Precisely to create references, the Director of Sustainable Development of Aquona and training chemistry, Laura de Vega has told students her own career as a STEM and has encouraged them to opt for careers and scientific and technical training such as chemistry, Engineering, mathematics or medicine.

Finally, the director of the San José school, Verónica de Anta, thanked Aquona and the Aquae Foundation for the development of the project in the educational center that "looks to the future and also involves children" to demonstrate that "girls and boys They are worth the same. ”

Aquae STEM is aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals 4 (inclusive, equitable and quality education), 5 (gender equality), and 6 (clean water and sanitation) and will be implemented over three years among students of 2nd and 6th grade, also involving children to recognize and value female talent. Nationally, the initiative is expected to reach 3,500 girls directly from 50 schools across Spain.
