Aquona makes citizens aware of the value of water

World Water Day, which is celebrated on March 22 under the auspices of the United Nations, focuses this year on “The value of water” and seeks to know the meaning that this element has for each of us and to become aware of it. A reflection that from Aquona we want to put on the table through various activities aimed at the citizens of Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León that we will carry around this important date.

The water-health binomial takes on a special value in 2021 and for this reason it will star in the virtual forum 'Water and Health' that we have organized by the Promecal communication group and that you can follow live in all its digital headers and through the following link : https://aquona.promecal.es/#verEvento. The appointment is next Monday, March 22 at 11.30 am. The nutritionist and pharmacist, Paz Pérez Malillos, the person in charge of the prevention programs of the Association Against Cancer of Valladolid and family doctor, Margarita de Miguel Gómez and the person in charge of Production of Drinking Water in Aquona, María García Rogado, will analyze the role of water that water plays for the prevention of diseases and for the adoption of healthy life habits.

For its part, the educational value of water takes center stage with the new format of the Aqualogía educational program, aimed at bringing the natural and urban water cycle to Primary school children, which has now been digitized to adapt to the health context. “We have virtualized the workshops that were held in person in the classrooms and now the schools will connect online to be able to participate in the sessions,” explains Laura de Vega, Aquona's Director of Sustainable Development. Schools of Ciudad Real, Zamora, Palencia, Arroyo de la Encomienda, Benavente, Venta de Baños or San Clemente, will release this new digital format during these days that we will later extend to educational centers in Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León.

In addition, the video contest ‘Get wet for the SDGs’, aimed at both schoolchildren and the general public, is still underway. “It is about recording a one-minute video telling how you contribute to the fulfillment of the SDGs, making special mention of SDG 6,‘ Clean Water and Sanitation ’”, highlights Laura de Vega. All those who are encouraged to participate can do so until May 3 by sending an email to aquona@aquona-sa.es. There are 7 categories and the winners will be known the first week of June, coinciding with the celebration of World Environment Day.
