Aquona launches an awareness campaign on the problems that masks, sticks and wipes cause in sanitation networks

#NoSonProblemitas is the slogan of the new campaign that Aquona has launched to raise awareness among the citizens of Castilla-La Mancha and Castilla y León about the serious damage caused by solid waste incorrectly disposed of down the toilet.

Within the framework of the European Week for Waste Prevention, the company gives the green light to this initiative that will focus its dissemination on digital channels and on its twitter profile @InfoAquona, through a spot and various graphic resources, which it intends to do The population is aware not only of the economic cost of the problems derived from using the toilet as a wastebasket but also of the environmental ones, since this waste can end up reaching the rivers and seas, entering the food chain of which we are all part. For this reason, the population is called upon to always put wipes, compresses, sticks, masks and other non-degradable products in the container.

The popularization of various disposable articles of personal hygiene, such as wipes, swabs, tampons, masks or pads has revealed a problem that cities and cleaning services around the world face on a daily basis. And it is that an appreciable percentage of the citizenship gets rid of this type of articles using the toilet, which ends up causing problems of various kinds.

On the one hand, the sewerage and purification systems of cities and municipalities suffer constant traffic jams, since these types of items are not designed to be disposed of in contact with water. These bottlenecks result both in detriment to service and in increased network maintenance costs. This is a problem that, according to AEAS (Spanish Association of Water Supply and Sanitation), generates a total overcharge of more than 230 million in our country.

#NoSonProblemitas contrasts the magnitude of the damage generated by this type of disposable items with the diminutives that we usually use to refer to them. We speak of "wipes" or "swabs", but we are rarely aware of the impact that their misuse can have. Problems that are far from small.
